Frequently Asked Questions

Our Readers

Who are your readers and what are their qualifications?

We have a team of over 6 readers, all of whom are currently, actively employed by the major studios as script coverage readers.
Submission Process

How do I get started?

To receive script coverage from MovieHatch, you will need to do three things:
1)    Fill out a Submission Form, and agree to the Release Form
2)    Make payment with PayPal (with your account or with a credit card)
3)    Send an email to us with your script attached (or, for an additional fee, mail us a hard copy of your script)

The pricing is as follows:
Standard <140 pages $125
Long Script>140 pages $155
Standard with extra comments - $160
Long with extra comments - $200

What is the Submission Form?

This is a short form that gives us contact information about you so that we know how to send you the coverage report.  By sending us the form, you will be agreeing to the terms of the Release form.

What is the Release Form?

The release form is a legal disclaimer that you must read in its entirety and sign off in order for us to accept receipt of your script.  This is a standard form that all studios, production companies and script coverage readers require to make sure that we are all protected legally.  Please make sure you read it carefully.

Do I need a PayPal account to send payment for the service?

No!  You will be directed to the PayPal page but if you don’t have an account with them, you can simply pay with your credit card.  PayPal gives you the option to select either method.  Couldn’t be easier…

If I don’t want to pay over the internet, can I send payment through regular mail?

Yes, you can.  However, the process will take much longer and you will be responsible for an additional payment for processing the hard copy of your script.  We need to charge an extra $25 to cover our costs to mail the script to the readers and to process the payment (check or money order).  You can pay by regular mail but still send your script as an attachment to an email; however, our turnaround time will only begin once your payment has been cleared in the bank.  This means it could take a few weeks for you to receive your script coverage back from us.

Do you send my script back to me (if I send a hard copy)?

No.  We do not return scripts to you but they will not be disclosed to anyone outside our system of executives and readers.  The scripts will be destroyed.

How long does it take to receive my coverage?

Script coverage will be returned to you within a week of receipt of all materials (Submission Form, Payment and email with script).   We will strive to have all script coverage returned to you in that time.

What happens if more than a week has passed and I still haven’t received my coverage?

If you haven’t heard from us within a week of your sending all the materials (Submission form, payment and an email with your script attached), please make sure your email program is not blocking our emails.  Check your spam filters or junk mail folders.  You can also write to us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to find out the status.  If we don’t hear from you, we will assume you have received your coverage, so please let us know immediately if you have not!

If I live overseas, can I submit a script for coverage?

Yes!  We absolutely accept scripts for coverage from outside the United States as long as the script is written in English.  If English is not your first language and you need assistance with translations or grammar, please write to us first at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  We do not offer translation services but we may be able to offer coverage at a slightly higher price to cover the extra time it will take our team to read the script.
