Clara has to fight unfathomable bigotry to be allowed to earn a living.
In 1878, Clara finds herself abandoned by her husband with five children and barely able to feed and clothe them. She works as a seamstress but it just isn't enough. For extra money she speaks for the right of women to vote and has developed an extraordinary gift for speaking. She wants to use this God-given ability to provide for her children as a lawyer. What's stopping her? An outdated law that only allows white men to be attorneys, a state legislature that thinks that women belong in the home, unfathomable bigotry, sexists, lawyers and judges. Based on a true story.
