As her personal world crumbles around her, she must choose to save her marriage, or continue to be tethered to the sinking ship named Joey. She lets go of everything she has been holding on to: her guilt about Joey’s childhood, her career ambition and the hopes of finding Andrew alive.
The jury finds Joey not guilty and he arrives home to find that Katie and her husband have moved. Joey feels Katie has abandoned him again. He confronts her and childhood secrets are revealed. In an unexpected turn, Joey is revealed as Andrew’s killer. In the icy waters where the crime took place, an action sequence unfolds where he attacks Katie she is forced to shoot him.
