In the flight of man, we find just how far we have fallen.
As a young boy, Jason wanders away from his family’s expedition into the Brazilian rain forest. Stumbling upon a hidden clearing filled with sparkling red leaves, he disturbs great clouds of pollen. Disoriented, he collapses only to wake hours later as howling monkeys move in for the kill.
At the last instant, a girl creature with enormous eyes, claw-like hands, and shimmering wings, drops from the trees to save him. He wakes the next morning, ten stories above the forest floor, with only the single sparkling red leaf in his pocket as proof of his ordeal.
Years later, now a researcher, Jason’s leaf falls into the hands of a ruthless drug lord – Mr. Gabon. The plant is found to be a highly addictive hallucinogen and the drug cartel wants more.
Forced to lead a band of mercenaries back to the clearing, Jason is once again saved by his flying savior - Rain Unfortunately, the mercenaries are not as lucky.
Living under Rain’s protection within the local ecosystem, Jason begins to understand the symbiotic relationship between the monkeys and the flying race of mammals. He also sees how removing the leaves will destroy both races.
Mr. Gabon sends another team of men to find the clearing. Jason and Rain are captured, the plants are harvested, and the real source of the red leaf’s terrible power is revealed.
Staging a daring escape, Jason and Rain retreat to the glade and prepare to defend it. The fight goes poorly and Jason’s newly found love dies in his arms.
Distraught, Jason sheds his remaining humanity to lead the monkeys against the drug cartel in a fearsome jungle battle.
Years pass, memories fade, and Jason’s prior life is swallowed up by his prolonged exposure to the sparkling red leaves…until one day when a young boy, very much like the one Jason once was, wanders into the clearing and collapses.
