The Embrace

Filmmaker: Cara Anglin Garcia

Medium: Film

Genre: Drama

Credits:

An art director falls in love with a living sculpture.

Synopsis:

An art director’s interest in an ancient sculpture becomes
an unforgettable romance when he discovers his passion for what appears to be the reincarnation of the female subject.

On opening night of the famed Exhibition of Living Arts,
one of two models for the finale piece suddenly cancels.
With no alternate available, and moments until the
living sculpture of two lovers is to be unveiled, Max
Turner is forced to display the piece without the
female counterpart.

But as the lights of the outdoor arena dim, and the lone
male subject poses on the hillside platform, a
mysterious beauty emerges from the darkness and
slips into his arms, disappearing into the forested
hillside upon the piece's completion. No one at the
Exhibition knows who she is, how she's doing this,
or more importantly, why she continues the baffling
visitations night after night.

I'm feeling something for the characters and if you've worked it right -- hit all the beats -- this could be really good. Best of luck.

I think your concept is incredible and offers an original setting for what could be a beautiful love story. It presents so many brilliant possibilities. Wonderful idea!

I love the idea of a film built around une tableau vivante (sic?). However, I had to watch the video a couple of times to understand what happens. The music interfered a bit in my understanding. The synopsis makes it clearer. I'm wondering about a woman just showing up nude and ready to hug. It opens up a lot of questions. I think the writer is onto something. I'd love to read the script to see whether it's pulled off. Good work.
