THorse trainer’s ghost haunts C&W singer hoping to get a lazy thoroughbred to win a big race.
Hall of Fame trainer Chub McGinty was a fixture at Big Time Race Tracks. Yet after bringing thousands of horses to the Winner's Circle, Chub had never owned a colt of his own. Until Haunted House.
On the eve of Haunted's first big race that lucky pound of bacon Chub ate for breakfast every morning finally caught up with him. The gray thoroughbred ends up on his ex-wife's farm in Arkansas, along with the Rastafarian groom, Blacka., who has a gift: whenever it rains, Blacka wears his underwear on the outside of his clothes.
Country superstar Bobby Guidry buys the broken down farm where Haunted House has been robbing pies and Chub’s stuck in limbo until his horse wins a race. Bobby's ex-wives (they're all friends) send Bobby’s teen daughter Samantha - who has a lot of issues, like climbing on top of the refrigerator and refusing to come down - to live on the farm Samantha suffers a head injury while riding Haunted one day. Miraculously, Haunted takes the unconscious teen to the hospital.
Angry his daughter had been injured, Bobby threatens to kill the colt, much to the dismay of McGinty, who holds the girl's other hand in the ICU.
Samantha recovers and urges Bobby to enter Haunted in equestrian events. Haunted doesn't get polo, steeplechase, dressage or even turf racing, though he likes to eat the grass. Finally, Haunted is entered in a race but refuses to leave the gate. Bobby's ex, Mai Ling, infuriated her alimony was cut off kidnaps Haunted. Haunted turns up safe and sound in Saratoga. The hard of hearing judge, accidentally enters the million dollar Travers Stakes. When there's a sudden downpour, Haunted romps to victory in the slop.
